CEO Note: Garfield Street and other administrative space leases

Hello everyone,

As we gradually say goodbye to dark afternoons and see some early signs that spring is on the horizon I would like to provide you with a quick update on our office space situation.

Recently, the provincial government approved the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure to undertake a Request For Proposal process to find us administrative space in addition to Garfield Street.  It is unclear how long this process will take as it depends on whether the space currently exists or has to be built, but it will take longer than 12 months.

As such, we have also been approved to extend our current leases for the 2nd floor of Queen Street and the space we currently are occupying at the Atlantic Technology Centre until the process is completed.

This means we can now proceed with buying new furniture for the 1st floor of Garfield Street so that Performance and Innovation; Nursing, Allied Health and Patient Experience; and Legal Services can move back to Garfield Street, hopefully within the next four months.

We are also working on identifying more hoteling spaces at Garfield Street so that more people can work from there on an “as needed” and/or temporary basis.

I know the period since Hurricane Fiona has been very hard on everyone regarding our physical office situation. I truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards ensuring suitable working space.

If you have any questions or would like further information please speak to your ELT member.

Thanks,
Corrine
