CEO Message: Announcing temporary senior human resources executives

Hi everyone,

I am writing to announce that two new temporary senior human resources executives will be joining HPEI to assist us in our transformation efforts.

Firstly, Shannon Graham will be joining us on June 27, 2024, as the Executive Lead for our Workforce Recruitment Pillar under the Transformation Office. 

Shannon is a seasoned and passionate executive and human resource professional, with demonstrated strengths in the re-design of people programs, organization design, change management, executive coaching, team leadership and strategic human resources planning.  She has received the HR Award for Excellence from the HR Management Association in British Columbia.  

With over 35 years of experience in human resources within healthcare in hospitals and health authorities in Ontario and British Columbia, she has held senior positions including Vice President and Chief HR Officer.  As the member of an executive team, she has been acting Chief Executive Officer and acting Chief Operating Officer for a large acute care hospital.

She has been an invited speaker at National/Provincial Conferences and Health Authorities regarding the re-design of people practices to enable operational success and 

Maura McKinnon will arrive on July 8, 2024, to be our Interim Human Resources Executive providing support to me and the Executive Leadership Team over the coming months until we recruit a permanent Chief of Human Resources. 

Maura, a seasoned HR professional with over 25 years’ experience across multiple sectors, is a leader dedicated to helping build people, ideas, strategies, plans and approaches.  She previously held the position of Chief Human Resource Officer with Horizon Health Network, New Brunswick’s largest Regional Health Authority. In this role, she ensured that Horizon Health’s Human Resources strategy and services were in alignment with the Provincial Health Plan, Horizon’s Strategic Plan, and the Regional Health and Business Plan. During her career, she has held the position of Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer with NAV Canada and Vice President of Human Resources with Imperial Manufacturing Group. Most recently, she has provided strategic leadership to the New Brunswick Multicultural Council.

While working full-time, Maura completed both her Bachelor's Degree and her Master in Business. She holds the Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation. Maura was the 27th person in the world to become a Certified Experience Economy Expert and she is also a graduate of the Disney Institute.
