Good afternoon,
I am reaching out today to clarify information you may have heard following a debate in the legislature late last week. I apologize that I wasn’t the first to share the news and want to reach out and provide additional information about the changes to Health PEI’s executive leadership team.
Last year, Health PEI was approved to review and update its leadership structure, including the number of chief and executive director roles and how they are organized. At the executive director level, we were approved to expand to 14 positions. Since then, as some of these positions were never fully defined or filled, we took the opportunity to reassess the needs of the organization. As a result, we are recommending reducing the number of executive director positions to 11 by eliminating/combining three positions that are not currently filled/established.
At the chief level, recent departures and transitions have allowed us to streamline the leadership structure. We will be combining the roles of the Chief Transformation and Strategy Officer and Chief Governance and Risk Officer, and we will not be filling the vacant Executive Lead for Health System Integration and Flow position.
These leadership structure changes were proposed and agreed upon by the HPEI executive leadership team, and approved by our board, and it is our hope they will create a more focused and aligned leadership team.
Any time changes occur, it gives us the opportunity to step back and make thoughtful decisions about how best to organize our work and use our resources responsibly.
Thank you for your patience during this time of transition. I am proud to work alongside you in delivering care to Islanders every day.
Sincerely,
Laurae
