CEO MESSAGE: Executive Leadership Update – Chief Strategy, Governance & Risk Officer

Good afternoon,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Chiarotto as Health PEI's new Chief Strategy, Governance & Risk Officer, effective October 28, 2026.

Jennifer is a senior public sector executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning health care, public administration, Crown corporation governance, and federal-provincial systems.

Most recently, she served as Assistant Deputy Minister of Public Health with the Province of Manitoba, where she provided strategic leadership for public health modernization, emergency preparedness and response, health protection, disease prevention, and Indigenous and intergovernmental partnerships.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has led major initiatives, including public health organizational renewal, provincial emergency health responses, and a provincial testing strategy during the pandemic. Her work has focused on advancing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives, strengthening system readiness, and delivering practical, person-centred solutions in dynamic public sector and health care environments.

Jennifer has also held Executive Director roles overseeing Population and Public Health, as well as Economic Opportunities and Investment. Earlier in her career, she held leadership positions focused on Crown corporation governance, policy, communications, risk management, health emergency management, and primary care modernization.

In her new role, Jennifer will provide strategic leadership to support organizational excellence, strengthen accountability and oversight, and help ensure Health PEI is well positioned to meet the evolving health care needs of Islanders.

Please join me in welcoming Jennifer to Health PEI.

Sincerely,
Laurae
