I am pleased to share that our search for a permanent Chief Governance and Risk Officer (CGRO) has been successful. Kelli O’Brien, who has been serving as Interim Chief Administrative Officer at Health PEI, will be transitioning into this new leadership role on a permanent basis.
Kelli will play a key role in expanding our quality, risk, and audit capacity, strengthening the foundations of our health system and supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and accountable health services for Islanders.
Thank you to Lisa Thibeau, Deputy Minister of Health and Wellness, Diane Griffin, Health PEI Board Chair, and Peter MacDonald, former Health PEI Board Member, for their support throughout the recruitment process.
Kelli is a seasoned health care executive with over 20 years of leadership experience across Newfoundland and Labrador and Ontario. She brings deep expertise in clinical operations, integrated risk management, and strategic planning, and is widely recognized for her ability to lead complex system transformation.
She has held senior roles at NL Health Services, Western Health, and St. Joseph’s Care Group, and has been a strong advocate for culturally safe care and meaningful engagement with Indigenous communities.
Please join me in welcoming Kelli to her new role.
