I am pleased to share that our search for a permanent Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has been successful. Christine Sewell was the successful candidate and will officially begin her new role on December 1, 2025.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Jamie Aiken, Clerk of Executive Council and Secretary to Cabinet; Brian Matheson, Deputy Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure; and Matthew Vaughan, Health PEI Board Member, for their leadership and support throughout the recruitment process.
Christine is a Chartered Professional Accountant who has held senior roles within the Alberta Public Service. Most recently, as Senior Financial Officer and Assistant Deputy Minister of Financial Services and Capital Planning for Alberta Primary and Preventative Health Services and Alberta Hospital and Surgical Health Services, she led financial strategy, planning, and operational execution across complex health portfolios.
As CFO, Christine will build on the foundation laid by Shawn Terlson to strengthen financial processes and accountability. She will lead efforts to modernize the system with the right tools and a skilled team of financial advisors and planners, ensuring we deliver the best possible value for money.
