CEO MESSAGE: Lest We Forget

November 11, 2024

Dear colleagues,

On Remembrance Day, I invite you to join me in honouring the brave people who served our country. Their sacrifices have shaped the world we live in today and led to the many freedoms and peace we enjoy in Canada.

Healthcare workers have a unique connection to Remembrance Day. Our colleagues, past and present, have served in times of war, providing care to those in need. Their dedication to healing and compassion has been a beacon of hope, even in traumatic circumstances. Thank you to those who serve now and who served in the past.

Healthcare workers also play a role in supporting and caring for veterans at home.

Our Operational Stress Injury Satellite Site in Stratford, a joint effort with Horizon Health Network, Health PEI and Veterans Affairs, provides specialized mental health services for veterans.

We also provide care through counselling for anyone who has lost a loved one or seen a loved one impacted by trauma associated with military service. Islanders seeking support can access evidence-based and trauma-informed care through Health PEI’s Community Mental Health and Addictions services.

Equally, our primary care, acute care, long-term care, and rehabilitation services teams provide profound support to military members who may have ongoing needs.

Thank you for your dedication to serving our community, and please join me in thanking and remembering those who served.

Sincerely,
Mel
