CEO Message: A Message of Thanks and Support After Today’s Code Silver

January 15, 2026

Hi everyone,

Hearing “Code Silver” is something none of us ever want to experience. Violence or the threat of violence is something that will never be tolerated in our workplace.

I want to recognize and commend those who demonstrated strong leadership and acted quickly to activate the Code Silver, ensuring the safety of our healthcare workers, patients, and loved ones in our community.

What happened today in Three Rivers was deeply unsettling, especially for our healthcare workers, patients, and loved ones who were on the ground. You should never have to face something like this. But you did. And you did so with professionalism, courage and care that defines who you are. Your training and action resulted in the safety of our staff and patients.

The RCMP and Charlottetown Police were engaged immediately, and we thank them for their service and quick action. As this is a matter with the police, we will not be commenting on further details.

It’s completely normal to feel a wide range of emotions in the hours, days, and weeks as you process what happened.

Your safety and wellbeing are our top priorities. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is here to support you in whatever way you need. You can reach out directly, speak with your leadership team, or contact a member of the Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness team. Our

Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness team will also be on site in Three Rivers to provide direct support over the coming days. Please don’t hesitate to connect with them if you need assistance, or just someone to talk to. We are here to help.

Just as importantly, lean on each other. You went through this together, and in times like these, the strength of our team matters more than ever. Check in with each other. Ask how people are doing. Sometimes the smallest gesture makes the biggest difference.

We’ll have more conversations in the coming days. And know that we are here for you.

With gratitude,

Mel
