As you may be aware, the Union of Public Sector Employees is currently in the midst of a presidential election. The purpose of this memo is to provide direction to employees regarding permissible union activity in the workplace.
Campaign activity is not to occur during work hours. Employees shall refrain from active campaigning on behalf of any presidential nominee at the worksite during work hours. Employees may use their lunch break at the workplace to conduct union campaign business for the pending election and to represent their nominee’s interests. In accordance with Health PEI’s Respectful Workplace Policy, the conversation must remain respectful and discussions must not disrupt operations. All posting of campaign materials must be restricted to union bulletin boards and should also be respectful.
The Employer fully supports the democratic process and requests that the workplace rules be respected during this campaign.
Thank you.
