CEO Message: Transformation Forum and updates

Hi everyone,

Wednesday marked an exciting milestone as we held our inaugural Transformation Forum, hosted by the Transformation Office.

This monthly gathering brings together our Leaders and Directors in a shared space to share insights, discuss progress, and collectively shape our transformation journey. Please see key takeaways from our session below.

Progress Thus Far

Since our kick-off, we’ve made significant accomplishments including:

  • Assessed the current state of the Patient Registry and conducted data cleanup procedures.
  • Visited 5 Patient Medical Homes (PMH) and held workshops with key stakeholders to discuss the PMH implementation pathway.
  • Reviewed our current recruitment process for Providers.
  • Created a vision for our Medical School’s Learning Health System.
  • Interviewed our Executive Leadership Team members and conducted a jurisdictional scan.
  • Developed a Transformation Roadmap to ensure we remain aligned with our key milestones throughout the transformation.

The Path Forward - Going forward, our focus will be to:

  • Accelerate key priorities, starting with developing plans for increasing the number of Patient Medical Homes, reducing the patient registry, and enhancing healthcare recruitment. Following this, the team will focus on building organizational capacity and advancing learning and medical education within Health PEI.
  • Provide measurable targets to ensure the provincial government's investments in healthcare lead to improved access to care, including affiliation with a collaborative team-based Patient Medical Home.

We have shared materials from this meeting with your leaders, who will distribute this information to all of you.

On a related note, I’d like to personally welcome Imran and Alex to the team. Following their success in the recent PSC competition, Imran and Alex will be joining Meghan in the Transformation Office full-time starting July 29 to help build capacity and drive our collective goals forward.

Imran Sheikh, a Biomedical Engineering graduate from Toronto Metropolitan University with a Prosci Change Management certification, started his career at iBEST and later joined Health PEI in 2020, where he played a significant role in implementing the Virtual Care Action Plan.

Alex Gamble, a graduate of UPEI's Sustainable Design Engineering program and a Professional Engineer, co-founded a company for a urinalysis device, helped establish the UPEI program in Cairo, Egypt, and has grown his project management experience in Canada, notably with the Department of Health and Wellness's Digital Health team on key projects.

I encourage you to join me in welcoming Imran and Alex to the team.

I am excited about the work we have accomplished in the past month and look forward to sharing more updates about progress in the coming weeks. As always, if you have any questions, please contact healthpei@gov.pe.ca or consult the Transformation Office webpage on our Staff Resource Centre.
Thank you,

Mel
