CEO Message: Welcoming Meghan Van Gaal as the new Director of Transformation Management

Hi everyone,  

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Meghan Van Gaal as the new Director of Transformation Management in our new Transformation Office, effective July 2, 2024. Meghan was the successful candidate in a recent open competition.

Meghan, a highly qualified Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) since 2011, will be leading the Transformation Management Team reporting to my office.

In this critical role, she will be responsible for:

Leading Project Prioritization and Execution: Meghan will spearhead the identification, prioritization, and execution of key projects that align with Health PEI's strategic goals. This includes managing project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful completion and delivery of impactful initiatives.

Enhancing Collaboration and Communication: Meghan will foster strong collaboration across Health PEI departments, ensuring clear communication and information flow throughout project lifecycles. This will involve acting as a liaison between the Transformation Office Team, the CEO's Office, and all stakeholders involved.

Driving Improved Health System Performance: Through strategic project management, Meghan will play a pivotal role in optimizing health system performance and resource allocation. This will involve leveraging her financial expertise and risk management skills to ensure project decisions align with Health PEI's long-term vision.

Meghan brings over 15 years of experience to this role, having honed her skills in Policy, Project Management, Risk Management, and Financial Auditing within the Government of PEI, University of Prince Edward Island, and KPMG. She is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Prosci Change Management Certified, demonstrating a well-rounded skillset for leading successful projects and navigating complex environments.

In this leadership role, Meghan's expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the successful implementation of key projects that support Health PEI's strategic goals and improve health system performance and resources.

A proud resident of Charlottetown, Meghan is passionate about giving back to her community. She serves as the Treasurer for the Blooming House Women's Shelter Board and facilitates financial literacy workshops with CPA PEI. Outside of work, Meghan enjoys gardening, home renovation projects, traveling, and sharing her love for PEI as an unofficial tourism ambassador!
