Hello Health PEI team,
Shortly, in consultation with the Health PEI Board of Directors, government will announce that a new Chief Executive Officer for the health authority has been hired.
Melanie Fraser, an accomplished senior Public Sector executive with 20+ years' experience building, leading and enhancing organizations and systems, has accepted the position and will assume the role next month. Throughout Melanie’s career with the public service, she has led large organizations and systems to deliver results for the benefit of the public.
She has a track record of successfully leading in complex environments and is known for delivering results. Melanie is highly regarded for her strategic and very collaborative approach and is known as a compelling communicator. She is a calm and thoughtful people leader who takes pride in leading high-functioning, diverse teams and values-based culture.
Melanie will begin her role of CEO on March 11, 2024. An executive search firm, Odgers Berndtson, was engaged to lead the search for the next CEO of Health PEI.
There were also meetings to collect input from key stakeholders and a survey shared with all Health PEI to gather insights on what qualities staff want in a CEO. This valuable engagement process allowed us to find an excellent candidate. I want to thank all those who participated in this process.
Building on the important work led by former CEO Dr. Michael Gardam and Interim CEO, Corinne Rowswell, Health PEI is very well positioned for Melanie to join and further work to enhance the health care system, in turn benefiting all Islanders.
I want to thank Corinne for her time in the interim role over the past number of months, I highly value her leadership and dedication to the health care system here in PEI.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your continued efforts to enhance the health care system on a daily basis.
Yours,
Mark McLane
Minister of Health and Wellness
