February is Psychology Month, and while it can be easy to gloss over the many awareness weeks and months in the calendar, I think it’s important we give a sincere shout out to our psychology colleagues. These are extraordinary people doing extraordinary work in extraordinary times.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Health PEI Psychologists and psychology teams have provided crucial mental-health and parent-support services to patients navigating the challenges of this crisis.
They have learned to innovate and adapt with virtual resources and approaches to ensure supports for mental health and cognition—including assessments and interventions—are available to clients and their families when in-person services are limited due to restrictions.
At the same time, our psychologists and psychology teams stepped up to provide public education on numerous topics throughout the pandemic, supporting adult and parent education on the ways to navigate the challenges associated with all the uncertainty of life under COVID-19.
We are all deeply grateful for the work the psychology team is doing for patients and the organization.
It is with my utmost respect and admiration I wish you all a happy Psychology Month on behalf of Health PEI.
