From the desk of Dr. Michael Gardam, Health PEI CEO
Last week, we noted that March is a special month, with many professionals recognized. Earlier today, we recognized Health Human resources Week, which started, Monday. It’s also Social Work Month and Nutrition Month.
As part of Nutrition Month, March 15 this year is recognized as Dietitian’s Day, dedicated to the people working in this important profession across Canada. As the Dietitians Of Canada association notes, the day celebrates dietitians as regulated health care professionals, committed to using their specialized knowledge and skills to translate the science of nutrition into terms everyone can understand to unlock food’s potential and support healthy living for all Canadians. The work of dietitians is so important across all of our health care areas and in every part of life.
As we talk about the importance of teamwork in health care, days that recognize professionals like dietitians both give us an opportunity to thank our professionals who work so hard every day to ensure the health and well-being of Islanders, and to shine a spotlight on the profession itself.
Thanks,
Michael
