The PEI Cancer Treatment Centre has implemented a standardized oncology referral process.
Providers using the Collaborative Health Record (CHR) must access the new referral form on that platform.
Providers who do not have access to the CHR must access the form online at healthpei.ca/oncologyreferrals.
To make this process as user-friendly as possible, we have allowed some flexibility in how the referring provider chooses to submit their online referral:
- The referring provider may complete the referral form online, including all clinical information.
- Alternatively, the referring provider may send a letter of referral (as usual) and have their support staff complete the online referral form on their behalf. In this case, it will be a modified form that does not include clinical information but ensures we have all the appropriate patient and referrer information. The average time to complete the modified form is 3 minutes.
