We are pleased to once again celebrate Health PEI’s Years of Service (YOS) Program, and introduce the Retiree Recognition program, a new enhancement this year.
Our collective mission to provide high-quality, person-centered care to all Islanders is made possible by you, the dedicated individuals delivering that care each day. As part of our Engagement Strategy, one of our three core pillars is meaningful recognition, honouring the remarkable commitment and contributions of our healthcare workforce. Your dedication to care, collaboration, and excellence strengthens everything we do, and we are sincerely grateful.
This year we are recognizing milestones from 2025, as this program continues, we look forward to celebrating your years of service as you achieve your next milestone.
Years of Service (YOS) Program
What years of service will be recognized?
Recognition milestones include 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 years and beyond, if applicable.
What is the eligibility criteria?
Recognition is based on continuous service within the calendar year (January 1 - December 31).
For example:
- An employee hired in 2024 will be eligible for the 1-year milestone.
- An employee hired in 2020 will be eligible for the 5-year milestone.
Wondering if you’re eligible this year? Ask your HR team to confirm your date of permanent hire.
When will I be recognized for my years of service?
All recognition will happen in May, the year after the milestone is achieved.
How will I be recognized?
Years 1, 5, 10, 15:
- Recognition will be delivered at the department level, led by our Health PEI Leaders.
Years 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45+:
- Honourees will be celebrated at Health PEI-hosted regional events. Leaders will accompany their team members to these special gatherings. If you are eligible within this group, you and your leader will receive a calendar invite to the event in your region from Christine Handrahan (christinehandrahan@ihis.org)
- These events are exclusive to Health PEI staff. Light refreshments will be provided.
Retiree Recognition - New this year!
We are excited to recognize all Health PEI employees who officially retired in 2025.
What is the eligibility criteria?
Recognition is based on retirement dates effective in 2025, including those who may have returned to work in a casual position.
How will I be recognized?
Retirees will be honoured at a Health PEI-hosted regional event, accompanied by their leader. Events are planned for 12pm-2pm, in Charlottetown and in Summerside.
Event Schedule
Wednesday, May 6th – Charlottetown - Retirement Luncheon & YOS Celebration
Wednesday, May 13th – East - YOS Celebration
Wednesday, May 20th – Summerside - Retirement Luncheon & YOS Celebration
Wednesday, May 27th – West - YOS Celebration
Retirement Luncheons will be scheduled from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Years of Service Celebrations are scheduled to run from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
