Health PEI Policies

Working in health care can be complex. Policies guide decision-making and streamline internal processes. They provide clarity and accountability about what is and isn’t acceptable within Health PEI.

All policies in this orientation apply to you as an employee of Health PEI, whether your position is full-time or part-time, permanent or contract.

Your role may also be impacted by other policies which your manager can share with you.

Please read the following policies as part of your orientation. At the end of this orientation, you will need to sign a form attesting to have read these.

The Policy Document Management System

The PDMS (also referred to as Medworxx and the PDMS) is a central repository that stores Health PEI’s policy and procedures, clinical standards, guidelines and medical directives.

The PDMS is Health PEI’s authoritative source for policy documents.

You can access the PDMS on any device with internet access by logging in to the Policy Document Management System, using your Active Directory username and password (the same login and password for your computer).

Once in the PDMS, you can search for policies by title, keyword and category.

This can happen as you are providing care to patients; when you are using patient information to complete job duties like quality improvement, risk management, reporting or program evaluation; or just by seeing or hearing patients while you are working in Health PEI facilities.

We are all required by law to protect this information and to use it appropriately.  Privacy training ensures you are familiar with the rules for respecting patient privacy and handling records with care.
