Bio of the Presenter: Professor Syed Sibte Raza Abidi is a Professor of Computer Science and cross-appointed Professor of Medicine at Dalhousie University, as well as the founding Director and Scientific Lead of the NICHE (kNowledge Intensive Computing for Healthcare Ecosystems) research group. An internationally recognized leader in artificial intelligence, digital health. His work focuses on developing and implementing innovative AI-enabled solutions that improve health outcomes for patients, providers, and populations.
With more than 25 years of experience spanning research, innovation, policy, and academic leadership, he has held numerous influential roles, including Board Director at IWK Health, Board Member of the International Association of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, and representative for Digital Health Canada at the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). His research advances areas such as clinical decision support, digital therapeutics, digital twins, remote patient monitoring, and health system optimization. He has supervised over 90 graduate students, published more than 300 peer-reviewed articles, developed over 40 digital health systems, and received multiple national and international awards recognizing his contributions to health informatics and digital healthcare innovation.
