Access Layer Switches - Scheduled Network Outage Notification - January 21st at QEH - Completed

Outage Status:

We are  pleased to confirm the successful execution of tonight’s coordinated outage activity in QEH TR5.

Success Metrics & Scope:
Completion Time: Concluded at 1:45 AM
Clinical Scope: Network services successfully migrated and restored across all targeted areas, including:
   – High-Acuity Areas: OR-adjacent administrative functions and clinical support zones
   – Support Services: Pharmacy, Biomed, Nutrition Services, Maintenance
Key Outcome: No critical incidents reported during cutover or post-validation. Service restoration was confirmed on site.

Access Layer Switches - Scheduled Network Outage Notification - December 10th at QEH - Completed

Outage Status:

We are pleased to confirm the successful and efficient execution of tonight’s coordinated outage activity for the TR12 Access Layer migration under the Modernizing Health Care Connectivity (MHCC) program.

Success Metrics & Scope:

  • Completion Time: Concluded at 12:23 AM ahead of the scheduled 1:00 AM completion target.
  • Clinical Scope: Successfully migrated and restored network services across all targeted areas, including:
    • High-Acuity Areas: Emergency Department, Trauma Bay
    • Support Services: Triage, ED Admitting, ED Clinical Core

Key Outcome: No critical incidents were reported during the cutover or post-validation period. Service restoration was confirmed.

Nutrition Services, Pastoral Care, ITSS EUS Office, Pharmacy, Staffing Office Room, Telecommunications, Doctor's Lounge, Physical Medicine

Nov 19th Outage Status Update:

We are pleased to confirm the successful and efficient execution of Nov19th's coordinated outage across QEH TR3, TR8, TR9, and TR16.

Success Metrics & Scope:

  • Completion Time: Concluded at 11:54 PM, approximately 2 hours ahead of the scheduled 2:00 AM completion target.
  • Clinical Scope: Successfully migrated and restored network services across all targeted zones, including:
    • High-Acuity Areas: ICU/CCU, L&D, Pharmacy, Units 1-9 (Med/Surg, Rehab, Gyn/Mat).
    • Support Services: Nutrition Services, Infection Control, Admitting & Pastoral Care, Main Elevator Zones, and all associated offices/lounges.
  • Key Outcome: Zero critical incidents reported during cutover or post-validation. Service restoration was confirmed with operational leads on-site.

This achievement reinforces our operational rigor. We are now focusing all preparation efforts on the upcoming TR12 (Emergency Department) migration on Dec 10th 2025.

 

Access Layer Switches - Scheduled Network Outage Notification - October 22nd at QEH - Completed

Oct 22nd Outage Update: 

We are pleased to confirm that the TR4 outage activity was successfully completed as planned.
Work began at 11:00 PM and was completed by 1:24 AM. All services have been fully restored, and operations have resumed to normal.

All post-cutover testing was successful, and no issues were reported. The Service Centre has been notified and provided with the All-Clear, along with escalation instructions for any network-related concerns at the CTC on Thursday, October 23rd.

QEH EUS and Network Operations teams will continue to provide on-site, and remote support as required to ensure stable performance following the activity.
